Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accountant (General) to join our team and contribute to our clients’ financial success. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of financial reporting, taxation, auditing, insolvency, accounting information systems, budgeting, cost management, and strategic decision-making. As an Accountant, you will play a crucial role in providing expert financial advice, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and supporting organizational governance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in formulating budgetary and accounting policies to align with organizational goals and compliance standards.
  • Prepare accurate and comprehensive financial statements for presentation to boards of directors, management, shareholders, and governing and statutory bodies.
  • Conduct financial investigations, prepare reports, and undertake audits, addressing various financial aspects such as business transactions, mergers, capital financing, suspected fraud, insolvency, and taxation.
  • Examine operating costs and analyze organizations’ income and expenditure to identify areas for cost management and efficiency improvements.
  • Provide assurance about the accuracy of information contained in financial reports and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Offer expert financial and taxation advice on business structures, plans, and operations to support strategic decision-making.
  • Prepare taxation returns for individuals and organizations, ensuring adherence to the latest tax regulations.
  • Liaise with financial institutions and brokers to establish funds management arrangements, optimizing financial resources.
  • Introduce and maintain accounting systems, advising on the selection and application of computer-based accounting systems.
  • Maintain internal control systems to safeguard assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
  • Appraise cash flow and assess financial risk associated with capital investment projects.

Skill & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in financial reporting, auditing, and taxation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting software and computer-based accounting systems.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
